Telephoto
- Background more flat
- less sense of space
Wide Angle
Focal Length: 24mm = (36mm)
- You get more of the background (obviously)
- You feel as if there is space between the foreground and background.
- More distortion
Wide Angle
Focal Length: 24mm = (36mm)
- More of a sense of space
- You see less of the table legs
- The closer towards the the edge of the photo the father the objects seem.
- The closer to the centre of the photo the closer the objects seems
- You see more of the bottom of the chairs.
Telephoto
Focal Length: 50mm = (75mm)
- Flat background
- You see more of the legs of the table
- Don't see the bottom of the chairs
- what happens to the width of the background when you go from WA to tele?
- what happens to the distance between the background & subject " " " " " " "?
- what happens to the subjects themselves in terms of expansion & contraction (for
the width) as well as compaction and enlargement (for front to back)?
When using the wide angle lens the background tends to get more far away and has more of a sense of distance and space. When shooting with the telephoto lens the background tends to flatten out more and sometimes almost feels like everything is on the same plane. One of the more obvious observations is that your see more of the background rather than just a small bit of it.
The subject when shooting with a wide angle lens looks more distorted compared to shooting with a telephoto lens. Especially when it comes to shooting a person where with a wide angle lens witch usually make one aspect of your face pretty zoomed in and the rest of the face looks stretched out. Although with the telephoto the subjects face looks more like a normal face. The same type of this happens when shooting an object although the results aren't as dramatic as shooting a person's face.
